Angry factory tint removal

I have a 93 chevy fullsize Blazer and it came with the factory mirror tint on the back windows. My Blazer is all black except for the back 3 windows. I want it all black but can't find a way to get the factory tint coating off of the inside of the windows. I asked the guy who fixed the rock chips in my windshield if he knew of a way to remove it. He told me if I didn't like the way it looked that I would have to replace the windows. Someone please tell me this is not true. There has got to be some sort of chemical or other way to remove this stuff. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Re: factory tint removal

Replace the glass with non-tinted glass & then have tinted with film so it can be removed. Don't ya think a glass specialist knows what he's talking about?

Wink

What? I talked to a kid who fixed my rock chips. I wouldn't really call him a glass specialist. What I wanted to know was if anybody knew of a way to get the stuff off WITHOUT having to replace the windows. I dont want to spend thousands of dollars on it. I was hoping someone had info on a less expensive option. Thank you for your reply though.

Re: factory tint removal

Why can't you get tint removed, I've had mine done... it was only about a month after it was put on though. Is factory tint permanent compared to aftermarket tint or something?

Factory tint is not like aftermarket film, it's in/on glass unlike film.

Oh okay I didn't know that... that's good for most people then I guess, less chance it will bubble, but for removing it will suck. What if you tint limo over the factory tint?

Re: factory tint removal

My buddy did the limo over factory on his tahoe, now all the windows match & it looks good. Normally people just tint the front sides because those aren't factory tinted, looks like shit usually. With the limo over factory tint it's VERY dark
