Unhappy factory tint removal

I have a fullsize Blazer with the factory mirror tint on the back windows. I hate it and would like to have it taken off. Is there any way to get the stuff off. I had a guy fix my rock chips in my windshield and asked him about it and he said there is no way to get it off. He said if I didn't like the way it looked I would have to replace all the windows. Someone please tell me this is not true. There has got to be something that will take the stuff off. My Blazer is all black and the mirror tint really stands out. I want the thing completely black. Any info regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

factory tint removal 2

The only way to remove the factory tint on any automobile is to get a 4 lb. mall and knock them out or go and trade the auto in on another one. The factory tint is embeded in the glass when manufactured.

Re: factory tint removal

Damn. That really sucks. However, after reading your replies I went and talked to a chevy service guy at a local chevy dealership and he said its a coating applied on the inside of the glass. He didnt know any way to get it off. So one of my freinds has the same problem and took 1500 grit and wet sanded his in a little spot and it came off. The problem with this is that it left little scratches on his glass but the mirror coating did come off. Im definately not interested in having little scratches on my glass. Does anyone know of some sort of chemical that will take this coating off or some other method that doesnt require replacing the glass. It is really expensive. When I bought my Blazer I didnt know this stuff wouldnt come off. I have way to much time and money invested into it to trade it in on something else. Other than the tint everything is perfect. I really appreciate your replies and thank you for your help.a1
