Making of - Lancia Stratos HF (* Progress Pics *)

Time to reveal one more.

I think that most of you are familiarised with my love for the Lancia Rally cars so you can imagine how pleased I am to start a project like this one.
Body is painted with 2 primer coats and 5 TS-26 coats and I think it is quite good.
This version will be the 1975 SanRemo Winner, white and green colour scheme.

Cool. I haven't seen a Stratos built up in the 75 Alitalia scheme yet, will be a killer for sure. You are a busy man Nuno!

Re: Making of - Lancia Stratos HF (* Progress Pics *)

Seems like its going to be an awesome build. I've messed around with these cars in rally games. They're fun to throw into coners at like 90 miles. lol
Anyways, keep us posted on the build, and post some more pics.

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. There's one of those Hasegawa Stratoses(?) sitting in my local hobby shop and I want to know if I should grab it.

Re: Making of - Lancia Stratos HF (* Progress Pics *)

Finally concluded the application of the green decals that with the white make the base colour scheme of this model.

It was a extremely hard work to apply all the decals in the curves and angles, especially in the front and rear sections but fortunately this decals support great amounts of solvent without deteriorating so with some patience the results will show up in the end.

Yes, this is a Hasegawa model.
If I’m not wrong the second of three different Stratos released by Hasegawa.

Nuno,

Are all the green areas decals, or were some of them masked off and painted?

Ray's Stratos was the '77 Monte winner in different livery to the one Nuno is building. '77 has a lot more red in it, '75 is mostly just green and white.

You have done a fantastic job on the decals Nuno. A shame about the semi-translucent white roundel, why can't model manufacturer's sort that out?

Thanks for your comments.
I have completed the application of all the decals in the body.
It will rest now for some days before I apply the clear coat.

Actually I will resume the Audi construction this weekend so I expect to have some new progresses next week. That’s why I like to work on several projects at the same time, I can always choose what I will do next instead of being stuck to a single project workflow

No, all the green areas are decals. There is of course the possibility of mask and paint the green areas. Much less work and much better results but unfortunately I don’t have the required material so I went for a full decal cover. I had to use a mixture of Humbrol 2 and 85 to paint the interior of the front lights and the down part of the middle wing that don’t come with decals to apply but are also green in the real model.
