Jammed Starter in 97 Sentra

Got a 97 Sentra 1.6L (not my own) and owner tried starting it and nothing happened. I found the fuse dead so I replaced that and it blew out another fuse. She had had starting problems before then she would leave it and come back and it would start. I figured the starter must be jammed and when it tries to send voltage to get it to start the fuse blows. Well I went to change the starter and first I saw that
a. it wasnt the original starter, so previous owner had trouble with it.
b. the solonoid was ripped off the starter! It was hanging by the wires?! Never seen that before.
c. tore the solonoid off the wires now I cant get the starter out?! It is stuck very badly. It doesnt even budge. Both bolts are off.

So what I want to know is do you guys have any ideas on how to rip this thing off of the flywheel? They put the damn thing in the most gawdafull place too!? My bros chevy had the easiest to change starter (took like 2 hours) this one is a pain in the ___ ive been working on it for two days with no luck!?

Can I for example loosen the starter by turning the wheels or something (move the tranny and get the gears lined up correctly?)

Thanks
