vehicle stalls

Hi Folks,
My mother in law is having a problem with her "90" olds/cutlas of stalling
going down the road. she says -the car runs fine when it runs, but she
wiil be driving and suddently it just goes out on her. she lets it sit for a few minutes and it starts back up. Of course I get stuck with looking into this problem. I do not posses any analizing equipment so there is not too much for me to check. I am hoping though that I can get some help from you folks and then I can check those items.
Please any help on this one will be greatly appreciated...
