Question tires and rims

hi another question. As a GTP owner I am always looking to improve the car's performance and such. My tires are getting kinda bald and before I go and buy new stock tires ( 225/60/16)
I wanted to know the biggest tires anyone has put on a GTP. By big I mean width and rim size like 16's or 17's. Also I am not to fimilar with this but can you put tires that have a width of 255 on rims that are 6 inches in width? How do I match up the sizes. I am looking to improve the handling on my car even though it is damn good so as it is. Please let me know before I go and by regular tires.

Thanks

Re: tires and rims

The largest that has been put on a GEN II W-body are 22s I believe. They had rubber bands for tires though. I put stock size tires on when I replaced mine.

PFYC has some nice looking rims in all sizes for the GP. I'm more into drag racing the car, so last time I needed new stock size tires I just went to Discount Tire told the guy I needed new tires for around $100 a tire.

Hope this gives you a better idea of what direction to go.

Re: tires and rims

Any rim with a 5x115 bolt pattern and a decent offset (35-45mm) will fit fine. The offset doesn't even have to be that much the larger you go. The offset is so great on the stock rim because it must clear that stupid caliper in the front. That's why the stock 97+ rims won't fit.

Talking I have Slightly Used 17" GTP rims for sale

If you're looking to upgrade your tires and wheels, I can give your a good deal on some still nice looking 17" rims that I got from SLP when I bought my car originally (2000). I decided to replace mine recently when I found a great deal. I would love to send them to a good home where they will be appreciated! Looking for $150 a piece or best offer. I can send you pictures if you're interested. Depending on your location shipping can be arranged.

I'm not looking to spend more than 400 dollars on a set of used rims. If you'd like to send the pictures of them to me so that I can get an idea of what they look like I could think about the offer. Include the most imformation about them as you can. ( size bolt pattern , and anything else) Thanks

Sorry for the delay in posting the pics and info. Got extremely busy over the past couple of days. I hope to have it posted sometime this weekend.

Thanks!
