1995 Blazer 4.3
My stepson owns a 1995 Chevy Blazer that has developed a random missfire and the locale chevrolet mechanic say's the car is running rich. He suggest replacing multiport fuel injector and/or fuel line from same. The car has recently had new plugs and wires installed and a new IAC valve. Does anyone have any other ideas?

95 blazer
i also have a 95 blazer w/ similar problems. A local mechanic said between the yr 95-98 chevy blazer, gmc jimmy's have a faulty central fuel injection sensor which allows the gas to flow around the cylinders. in my case it goes right though the exhaust system which has totally ruined my exhaust. it gives of white smoke and reakes like gas until it warms up. the only problem i dont have like $600 to fix it

Re: 95 blazer
The 4.3 VIN # W engines prior to 96 did have a problem with the CPI unit or the lines feeding it leaking inside the intake causing had start,SES lights ,rough idle and black smoke complaints

all this makes me glad my 95 S-10 w/CPI has made to to 176,000 so far on the original CPI unit.
to you other guys, ive seen where there is a fuel pressure reg. kit out now for about 50-60 bucks..... it is the reg that fails anyway, that or the feed/return lines. this substantially decreases the cost of this fix. |

95 running rich
Had the same problem..
simple test to determine if faulty fuel pressure regulator. connect a fuel pressure guage up to the test port while watching the gauge turn the key on, listen to the pump engage and watch the pressure when the pump turns off, if the pressure bleeds off then the regulator is bad.. bad thing is when chevy had the regulator on the external part of the engine it was about 15 dollars. but the 95 models placed it internally.. to a tune of $400 if you can afford the new one get it , but I found a salvage yard and had them crack open a shelved engine and paid 200 for the part.. it takes about 45 min to install. another bad things was that most of the mechanics and dealers didn't have a clue.. said egr, o2 sensors everything but. good luck |

While fuel pump is running, crimp off rubber fuel line under car near driver's seat which isolates the tank/pump/pulsator. If pressure holds, then it's a bad pulsator/pump. If pressure still drops, then for sure it's the regulator/CPI. |
