Bowling for Columbine

Has anyone seen Micheal Moore's new documentary film Bowling for Columbine? I watched it and found it funny.

New? Hardly new. He has a home right by me. I ran into him during a war protest he was at here in Petoskey (no I wasn’t protesting, I was just going to the gym). What an idiot. He is why this country is great. If a complete moron like him can succeed, anyone can.

If he wasn't just saying everything that anyone with an average intelligence already knew, it would have been cool. There was some comedy, but it wasn't enough to keep me from complete boredom while watching the movie.

Most people in the United States are dumb out of choice, not because they are born that way, it comes down to the saying 'ignorance is bliss'.

I corrected the quote to where it should be, and disagree. Most people who you would consider 'dumb' worldwide are too 'dumb' to know there is a choice. They get that way through a lot of other things besides 'choice'.

Do you mean 'the way it should be'?

The way you changed the quote to is grammaticaly incorrect too, maybe you would like to look into that.

I agree that it is a worldwide phenomenon, but we were only talking about the USA in this context, and I do believe there is a far greater oppurtunity for education in the USA than in a vast part of the rest of the world.

No. I meant 'where' it should be, as in 'where' it should've been referenced to in the context of the US population. 'The way it should be' suggests that I was trying to correct grammar, which I wasn't.

No need to. As was said before, grammar was not an issue in my correction. I didn't want to change too much of the original statement, while putting it in what should've been the more justified area of reference. The original one had connotations that MOST of the US population is dumb.

It's all about relativity. There might be more opportunities for study here in the US but, there are also a LOT more opportunities for distraction, seeing that the entertainment industry in the US is hundreds of times larger than any other country's.

OK, now I understand what you meant.

Well, considering the fact that I didn't make the original statement, I simply made it more correct, I don't see why you are pursueing me on the matter, unless you have an ulterior motive.

BTW, I sent you a PM.

Well, I disregarded the original, and quoted yours since, after you corrected him, you never mentioned what I considered the biggest mistake in his statement was...which sounded to me like you were agreeing with him.

Since he seemed like a self-prophecy of his statement, I decided to go after the more intellectual person because of two things: one, you should know better; two, you'll more than likely get my point better than the originator did.

Simple as that.

I thought bowling for columbine was good... Not everyone in this country (regardless of their mental ability) knows about how hypocritical this nation is, or alot of what goes on. I found it to be an eye-opener for myself.

I don't understand why Yogs thinks he's a moron... He is an activist. He stands up for what he believes in, and does his best to expose the inequities of our society. In my book, that deserves praise, especially in a day and age where people hardly bother to even vote for their leaders. It's one thing to talk about how fucked up large corporations are, and the tragedies of poverty, but it's another thing to actually try and do something about it.

This movie isn't meant to be funny. It's not a fucking comedy, it's a tragedy. It's not supposed to entertain you, it's supposed to enlighten you, even if only a little bit.

Sorry, but I don't equate stupidity with standing up for what you believe in. He IS an idiot. He has the reasoning power of a ten year old.
