Alcohol injection?
Just a random idea I had:
I've seen some kits for water-injection to cool the burning temp of your engine when running at high boost levels, so to avoid spontaneous detonation. Now I've been thinking.. could you use such a kit to inject alcohol (instead of water) into a N/A engine to give it some boost? I've seen some scooters that run on an gasoline/alcohol mix, topspeed on those was suddenly increased with some 35%, so it's prety obvious that there are serious power gains. Could a system like that be used on cars as well? Or would it definately kill your engine after 10 miles or so? Any ideas? |

this kinda goes w/ the nitrous idea. but instead of adding more air into the engine, you're adding more fuel. i've seen alot of trucks w/ propane injection-more combustable than alcohol making more boost. but i've never seen cars w/ propane injection, but it could prolly be done.

Re: Alcohol injection?
Water is used as a "boost fluid", when alcohol are used it's used as a antifreeze addetive in water. Search the internet for "boost fluids" and "gasoline faq" and you will find some info about it.
Propane are used for diesels since they run with an air excess. Gasoline engines run with a fuel excess, add more fuel will just lower the power output. |
