Only visual way to tell is by the Front Bumpers

'68-69 Nova front bumpers had smaller front turn signals.

The '70-72 Nova's had larger front turn signals in the bumpers.


As far I know... thats basically the only visual difference I know of at the moment.

also i think the 68-69 had no side marker lights and maybe had a vent window. i have a 73 nova, also had a 70 years back

That pretty much covers the visual differences. Don't forget that the engines were quite different.
