will the evo motor bolt up and fit into the mirage chassie? if so what new things do we need ie/ engine mounds ect.. how harrd wil l it be to swap the lhd fire wall for the rhd ver. also how hard is the wiring of the evo motor to work in a mirage.. yes we know that it is alot of $ but we are will to spend it. so please help me!! btw if we get the front clip of a rhd evo will most of the parts to do the swap will be there and if not can someone please tell me what parts i will need to do this .. thanks 1

Re: evo project help!!!
Without knowing you or anything about you I'm going to guess that you will NOT have fun with the whole conversion process. You're going to need at least the rear diff and probably floor ban as well if not a rear clip as well.
As for difficulty...very few people have done it, most of whom have gone through extremely qualified shops with fabrication skills and years of experience both working on an driving cars. Best of luck. You're certainly going to need it.

It has been done several times in Australia, but it always by very highly skilled and qualified fabricators, and panel beaters.
The job is not a simple one, for starters you will need the mirage firewall as well as the EVO floor plan, all of which can of course be imported, but your looking at importing two complete wrecked cars to make sure you get all the parts you need (you will need a complete but wrecked EVO). If you had the skills required yourself you would not be asking the questions you are, so I suggest you go and find somebody who can do it and is prepared to do it, and ask them how much it will cost before you go any further. Your looking at about 3-4 weeks of paid full time work just for the body conversion, and then that much again to get the car actualy running. Then you have to add in the cost of parts, any other custom work to make it a show car worthy of the time and money spent.

Re: Re: evo project help!!!
Well if he seriouslt has the $$$, and we talking tens of thousands here, then the EVO engine will fit.
The most common thing to do is import a wrecked GSR Lancer, considered a bady EVO, the are Lancers, with AWD and 4g62 engine, 1.8L turbo, but the 4g63 engine will bolt up, and work. The most important parts you need are the floor, and rear diff/subframe/suspension. The GSR gives you all of that, but in a simplier form than whats in the EVO. You don't have to worry about hooking up the complicated AYC set up etc, you just get nice simple, easy to understand parts, that will make the car AWD, and compatiable with an EVO engine. You can then import any 4g63 (that faces the right way) and rebuild it to what ever spec you like, or start with any generation EVO engine depending on whats avliable. Fitting the engine in the front won't be a problem, the sort of work your talking about to make it AWD, and RHD is about 100 times more complex and harder that fabricating some engine mounts. Its exactly the same sort of work you would be doing if you were to convert the car to RWD and a V8. But it will require a lot of time by a certified automotive enginer, if the GSR/EVO floor is lined up even 5mm out the whole back end won't be straight, and the car will never run properly.

Re: Re: Re: Re: evo project help!!!
You don't mount a firewall.
Its part of the cars unibody i.e. part of the chassis. It is possible to cut it out and replace it, but its not something you can do in your back yard, and not something even most panel beaters can do. You have to completely strip the frount of the car, and literaly cut it, and unstich the spot welds, then making sure the car is held square, reweld in the new firewall. Its and expensive operation. And like I said, if you access to the skills required to do it, then mounting any 4cly engine in there will be the easiest part of the whole operation.

firstly, wat year is the mirage to be modified? as for it to be converted to an evo 6 it would need to be 1996+ 5g shape. its not that much of a mission to do really, as its a mirage sedan? everything will bolt up, all you need to change is the fuel tank and rear wheel well to fit the diff. and why do you wanna change from lhd to rhd?
and as for the engine, 1989-1995 engines will only fit in those year cars. 1996-2003 engines will only fit in those year cars. so you will need an evo 4/5/6/7/8 engine or later model GSR. i'm running an evo 5 engine in my mirage coupe, fwd.
