Any Torino owners?

Are there any Torino owners out there? I am working on a '69 GT right now and I am not really a ford guy so I was looking for some people who are knowledgable on these cars.

Do you know of any good parts suppliers for these cars? I have used MAC's for a few things but they do not always have everything I need.

Re: Any Torino owners?

my friend justin has a 68gt formal top and his dad(evan)has a real 70torino cobra. 1 of like 1500. they are way too underrated. actually carcraft says the MOST under rated car every. dont get rid of it...they are sweet. if i did not have a 70chevelle i'd get a 68 or 69 torino gt

I have a 69 Montego MX which is Mercurys version of the Torino. I had collected a complete 390 GT motor from carb to pan, but am going to go with a 428 instead. The 390 parts are available. I have the 390 4-speed from flywheel on back also which is available. I am listing it in teh For Sale section.

Re: Any Torino owners?

My first car was a '70 Ranchero with the HO 302 and C4. Fun car and had more low-end torque than any other "stock" car I've ever owned.

BTW: This was also the very first car that I ever built for the drag strip 15 years ago so if you have any questions on how to get your Torino to hook up better, feel free to ask. (holy crap I'm getting old!)

Re: Any Torino owners?

I have a quick question for the Torino guys...Do you think it is possible to stuff a 460 with a C6 in a '69 Torino(or similar year)? I got a 460 that's begging for a car...
Thanks

Re: Any Torino owners?

It will fit, but it will be a *&^% changing the plugs.

Re: Any Torino owners?

Crites and Total Performance carry headers for such a swap. It is very common, and it isn't all that bad to change the plugs with the mount and header kit. Definitely cheaper to go fast than with an FE, although not as pretty.

Re: Any Torino owners?

Thanks...cheaper = better. I'm all for go and little show (not that show is bad, of course...I just want to be able to have fun on rainy days). Does anyone happen to know of a cost figure for the mounts and headers? Not only that, but I might need a custom driveshaft, or are there some out there that happen to work for this? Also....I need tips on boring...this 460 def needs to be bored out (got some popcorn chicken in there), and I plan to do some NA, no nitrous, "work" to this motor. I don't want too much compression either. The motor is out of a '71 Lincoln Any suggestions on that? (too bad theres no SOHC heads that'll fit )

Re: Any Torino owners?

Around $375 for headers and $125 for mounts.
You may be able to find a driveshaft from a Torino/Montego/Cyclone that came with a C-6 or a big block 4-speed which will work.
If you are not going to run nitrous, just run a set of Keith Black hypereutectic pistons with a small dish, and you will be fine.
