RPM gauge freaking out
Well when i have the car in neutral or its just sitting at a stop the needle jumps from 1k to 1,200 but you cant hear the engine reving up.Could it be that my dizzy is going out.I was told that when your dizzy is going bad you get these symptoms.Also i have a hard time starting my car when the car is cold.

Your idle is too high to begin with. Adjust it correctly then see where your at.

if there is no change in engine speed I would check your distributor. Its probably your ignitor which is inside the distributor. I would swap out the distributor if I were you with a known good one and see if it helps and then if you feel like it you could just swap out the ignitor its pretty simple with the distributor off the car.
