325is E30 problem: help please!! :)

Hi,
I've had a 1987 325is for a year and a half now. Sometime back in July it, a strange problem started. Whenever I'm in second gear under hard acceleration, from 3500-4000rpm it feels like it's "missing" - that is, the car jumps a little until I get beyond 4000rpm. It now has 124,000 miles on it (I bought it with 114,000). Other than this, the car is running very well. Could it be that it needs a new distributor? Or maybe wires? Note that this ONLY occurs in second gear when under hard acceleration. Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
