engine swap or no??

whas good guys,
quick question. i jus bought a 92 integra ls with 180 000 highway miles on it. Now i know everyone must think im doub as hell, but i took a mechanic with me and he said the engine runs fine, no problems. he was surprised at how well kept it was and the inside of the car is emaculate. i bought the car for only $1500 and now i hav 5000 to play with. before i supe it, shuld i buy a whole new engine? and if so, which is the best one?

so im curious, since you had 6500 dollars to begin with, why not buy a newer one with less miles? i got a 97 integra for $4500 and it only had 60000 miles on it...

With $5k, I would say you have 2-3 options

option 1 enigne swap. With a b18c1, at about $2700, with a B18c5 at about $4200. But don't forget labor and if you do go with the type r at $4200, after labor and shipping you will have very little left over. Actually that swap will run more than that. 92 is obd 1, a harnass is $250, labor is $500 - $800 assuming that your's is manual already. Shipping is $100-$400. You are left with the GSR engine at 170-180 hp
http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/honda/index.html

option 2 get a jdm b18b engine from ebay for about $1000. Yes, same exact one. Why? Yours has 180k miles, the jdms have 30 - 40 k. Get a greddy turbo on ebay for about $2300. decent power, better then b18c1. But not sure if you need motor mounts or not, but you will need harnass if you get a jdm b18b1 for 96+. Left over money, get either intercooler (more power), or lsd tranny (control). Up to you. Or other mod, like suspension, wheels, tires, tower strut bars, etc

option 3 engine swap with h22, it's cheap, less than $2k i think, but you will need H22 axles (junk yard), and a mounts ($400-$600), and labor ($500-$800). You will also lose AC and power steering. But I heard that there is a special AC plate that is avalible for $120, and labor for about $300 to bend the AC pipes. (not too sure about this though) But if you get pre 96, you won't need a harnus for $250. However, there is another variation to this swap. You could go with the euro r spec H22, output of 220 hp with 163 lbs for torque. (that's right 163 lbs, king of the hill all motor monster torque for your teg) But that darn thing is like $5k for the engine and tranny. But it is an lsd tranny.

Ok you all seem to know what you are talking about so help me out here!

Ok here is the story, as much as i hate to say i am kinda rich, my parents have a lot of extra money to spend. And i just turned 16 and got my license, so they decide they will bye me my first car and pay $125 monthlly insureance for it and any extra i have to pay. so thats really cool but there is a problem, listen to the cars that are parked in my drive way and tell me whats wrong, 2003 lincoln navigator, 2003 lincoln LS, and town car, 1998 corvette, ford explorer sport track and a 2001 ford mustang. Incase you didnt notice all of these cars are AMERICAN!!!! My dad is all american and no jap crap as he says. So i tell him i want an Acura integra. he said hell no. and i said it is american and he said no they just say it is so kids like you get there parents to buy it for them!.. so my Question is..... HOW DO I TALK MY DAD INTO IT???????? What are some good things about it....????.... and if i do get it i will be back to ask questions on how to fix it up cause i have $3,500 and a brand new 6,000 atv i am willing sell to make my car look nice and go fast!!!1

First off, do you know why he's like that? personal experience, racist(j/k) ethnocentric, thinks they're weak, thinks they'll break down??? Where's this dissaproval coming from? Tell him all the goods. And basically just say, thats what i want, put up a fight, and eventually he should give in

alright dude here's my two cents.......i have a 96 gsr with 135k on it runing perfect. im doin a complete build up on the block that i have. starting with a new skunk 2( valve springs, cams, cam gears, lifters, intake manifold) also want to get ahold of new pistons(havent decided on what brand) maybe skunk 2 exhaust and intake valves. this is looking to be around..... ......$2000-$2500. after that id probably finish the "flow" of my engine with new injectors, ignition, intake, header, exhaust. should be a little money left and i would use that for a hondata(or aem ems), get a little dyno time and tune it to get some hellacious horses. all this(just a guestimate) should get u a little close to say 230 horsepower and maybe a little more and since its naturally aspirated its a lot better than forced induction(dont get me wrong i like forced induction) when it comes to power.
