Upgrading MTX truck box and amp
I'm currently thinking of changing my speakers and amp. It's a pair of MTX Thunder 8" truck subs (with the piezo tweeter horn up top) and a Sony 45x2 amp. The speakers are paper and that bothers me most.
What I was thinking of was putting in a set of RF Punch Z's and a RF Punch 75x2 amp. Would it be better to disable the tweeter, too? (I have Polk db 6.5's all around and a Kenwood head.) Money-I'd like to keep the spending to a minimum, I AM married and I don't care if the car next to me at the red light can hear my music, I just like it to be loud inside. The ride is a 2001 Dodge Ram extended cab. Waddaya think about that? Thanks for the input. Adam |

Re: Upgrading MTX truck box and amp
which specific punch subs?
it would be much more cost and space effective to get a single good driver and give it more power than 75. If I were you I would look at one of the lower line elemental designs or resonant engineering models and a 300 watt or so amp to power it

sr20de4evr...
They are the Punch Z's and I was looking at them because I can get 2 for $90. I wasn't going to go with a single, bigger sub because I have to place the box(es) under my truck's back seat and space isn't a luxury I have.
