'91 Stereo Removal.

My friend has a '91 Toyota MR-2 Turbo. He has the stock CD player, and wants to upgrade it. I know how to do the wiring for a stereo, but I am kinda new so I don't know how to take the trim off of every car. Is there anyone who knows how to take the trim off, so i can get to the stereo?

Also, I am going to help him put in new door speakers, is there any hidden screws or anything i should know about with taking off the door panel. I have taken off door panels before, on a '01 Chevy Malibu, and I know most door panels come off the same, but I was wondering if there are any hidden screws or anything in the MR2T.

Thanks in advance for your help.

To remove the radio.

1. Remove the ash try by pulling.
2. Remove the two screws that are now visible after removing the ash tray
3. Remove the trim piece (console upper panel) from around the gear selector with a flat head screw driver. (careful not to damage - tape screwdriver tip) -- two screws should now be visible, if not, you remove the wrong trim. (don't remove the one with the leather from the shift knob)
4. Remove the two screws.
5. Remove one screw from Center cluster finish panel (trim around radio), the screw is located close to the ignition switch, on the bottom side.
6. The rest of the trim is held together by clips, use a flat blade screwdriver, and pry it off. (again carful not to damage) -- Disconnect the cig lighter and four way flasher switch.
7. Once trim has been removed, you can remove the radio and heater control by removing the screws.

hmm since we r on the subject i need to know if anyone has the JDM cupholders for their MR2 , i need one! its annoying when you have a can of soda open and driving. I know the cupholder fits under a radio face.
