cant lower, wheels stick out

hey everybody i finally got around to asking this question, i wanna lower my car i got all the things i need to do it sitting in my garage, but.........if i lower my car 2 inches the gap will be pretty small, which is a good thing, but my wheels stick out of my fenders about 1/4 of an inch maybe 1/2 inch at the most, so if i lowered it and i hit a bump lets say, it would bottom out, (cuz i still need a bouncy ride) and the wheels would hit my fenders. i wanted to know if it is possible to adjust something under the fender area to push them back into the wheel well about an inch or so, so i can lower the damn thing. that way i wont ruin my fenders, like i see some ppl did here in windsor...lol. any help would be appreciated....

well its called rolling ur fender but im not sure how much is too much to have it stick out u kno? they stick a bat inside the wheel wall and arch down so that it creates the shape they need...but urs is sicking out more so humm...why not a 1.5 inch drop?

i just dint get how mine is different then everybody elses, i mean i see a lot of Accords lowered even with a 4 inch drop and their wheels are still inside the wheel well, i only have 17x7 MR7's (and so does everybody else ) and my tires are 215/45/17. any other suggestions would be great, thanks guys, your more help than the yahoo Accord group

hmm..im not sure about this but i think (and its a big i think) that the camber kits might be able to pull your tire back in and prevent it from sticking out..that might work but im not sure

If you get a camber kit, you can adjust your wheels for increased negative camber so that the wheels are angled inward at the top.

Therefore, your tires will not rub the fender when you go over a bump.

The other thing is suspension geometry changes when a car is lowered (which is why you will want to get a wheel alignment after lowering your suspension), so maybe the the reason your friends' cars are okay after the car is lowered is because the top of the wheel naturally angles inward. The suspension design is such that the lower control arms pivot in an arc when the wheel goes up or down. Cars with double wish-bone suspension (two control arms per wheel) do not have this problem and the wheel goes straight up and down instead of in an arc.

Unfortunately, your problem lies on the incorrect rim offset. If it stick out too much, even rolling the fenders will not cut it. I'm sure that even without lowering and with a full load (passengers) on rear seat, you're already experiencing some rubbing. The only real solution is to replace your rims with the correct offset, which will be costly. I really can't believe that someone will actually suggest the camber solution to angle your tires inward to remedy your problem...it will cause more headache than anything else.

maybe your rims are too wide, get 17x7 or 7.5 and youll be fine
I have 19x7.5 NICHE on mine with a 4" drop and its fine

Ah so. Camber adjustment is for wheel alignment purposes, not fender clearance purposes.

Maybe a photo of the car in question would help. I always forget whether it's negative offset or positive offset is for front-wheel drive cars.

Motegi MR7s. Those have 40mm positive offset, okay for a FWD. 24.5 lbs. rims each, heavy.

I looked at some other 92 Accords on cardomain.com. It is unusual that yours are sticking out that much. Maybe it's because you haven't lowered it yet.
If you really want to know if it is going to hit the rim, get two or three people to slowly push down on one corner of the car just to see if the fender lip touches the tire, or if the wheel arcs inward (because the lower control are is pivoting) and misses the edge.

you problem is with the tires you decided to put on those rims...
i have a set of shu-4's on my 93....
after reading through numerous complaints and suggestions i decided upon parada spec-2 205/45/17 tires....
the complaints were all the same..they were rubbing up against the walls...
i have a cousin with the same problem...he has 225/40/18 tires on his 91 ex and they rub like crazy...he can't even have 4 adults in his car...
the tires extend out too far because you went too wide...more or less...
205 seems to be the optimum width that the 90-93 accords can handle..
mine are flush and look pretty okay...but then i only have a 1.5 drop in the back and 1.75 in the front...
