Re: intercoolers

Cut an existing radiator, or carve the pattern on a plastic sheet. You can make any size, you want.

That's what I figured but I have seen cars on here that had intercoolers bigger than the opening and looked like a Mack truck, so I had to ask.

You can use one of my kits http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3148716004 or what the other guys have mentioned. I'd post a pic of mine but the board seems to be acting up on me.

Re: Re: intercoolers

one quick question. this probably sounds dumb, but i dont know that much about engines. Does the intercooler replace the radiator? And also how would i cut an existing radiator?

No it does not replace the radiator, the intercooler goes in front of it.

The purpose of an intercooler is the same as a radiator, sort of.The radiator cools the engine, where an intercooler cools the air going into the engine. the IC (intercooler) cools the hot gases (which spin the turbocharger), and therefore makes the intake charge(air going into cylinders) more "powerful" in a sense, because cold air is denser than hot. Also, the denser the intake charge, the more power you will eventually make from your engine. Sorry, but turbos r my favorite subject, i could talk about em all day. Just my

Well, you're not 100% correct on that... Only one little thing: the hot gases that spin the turbocharger do not go trough the intercooler (IC). Those are the exhaust gases. When the air is compressed (spelling) by the turbocharger turbine, it gets pretty hot, that's why it needs to go trough the intercooler, to become colder/denser. The hot gases that come from the exhaust just make the turbo spin...
In other words,
Exhaust gas spins turbine, wich compresses air coming from the air filter, wich has to be cooled down after compression and before intake.
