I know someone who shifted at 9K
that wasn't a stock engine though, and it had a standalone The Tranny doesn't like that though |

4g63 - Factory says 7000, but these engines are good till 7400-7500 without any problems, from what ive seen, i wouldnt advise it, however i havent seen many problems of over reving.
420a. 0rpm you dont need to be reving one :-D factory says 420a redlines at 6500... so which one you think? i never hold mine past redline if i hold mine at anytime its about 6000 where i launch at.. onlytime mine goes past 7000 is right before i shift |

From what I can tell, stock for the 4g63 is 7500, but poeples tachs vary widely. It is common knowledge that a stock head can take 8500 rpm, which is already testing the limits of a stock trannys shifting ability. I have been over 10k rpm twice on a mishift (for several seconds) with no ill effects. My rev limiter is currently set at 8250, while I shift at 7500.

i don't usually like to take mine too far past 7000. But on the otherhand im a pussy and i don't want to do anything to bad to my car. One race isn't worth getting a new tranny. Or is it? hmmmm......

For most poeple, its not worth going past 7500 anyway. When I was on the stock T25, but somewhat modded, I dropped my shift points from 7k rpm to 6k rpm, except first which you should take to 7500, and went half a second faster in the quarter. The car has to be setup to take advantage of higher rpms, or it can actually slow you down

Well, i wish my car would make some power at 10k rpm, hehe. But if I wanted to shift at 10k, I would have kept my Rx7... Race motors in those cars go to 13k or so. lol

I still have the 14b turbo on my 91 gs....I heard that it doesnt make sense to rev up past 5500 rpm while driving, because the turbo and engine start to lose power after that...is this true?

No. The optimal shift points for a 14b car with stock cams will be 7500 (or as close as you can get without hitting the rev limit) and 7000 in the following gears. The 14b is a very capable turbo. Now, the stock 2g turbo, the T25, is another story. By dropping my shift points (2nd gear up) from 7k to 6k, I went half a second faster
