mk3 perfomance
I was considering getting a mk3 turbo. Is it true that targa top models are heavier. Since weight is already an issue with supras that would suck. But i would get one anyways because targas are bad ass. I was also wondering what it would take to get one into the 14's.(bare essentials). what kind of performance can u expect with filter, exhaust, straight pipe, and turning the boost up as much as safely possible(stock turbo) without upgrading the fuel? and do they come with a blow off valve?

WTF, withwith filter, exhaust, straight pipe, and turning the boost up as much as safely possible....and you get a 14 sec. car? So why the fuck is everyone so obsessed with these, whats so good bout them....Im so confused, in my other post "10's supra" it completly opposite....i don't understand, someone please help me too....! |

Yes, you are confused smokeurass With a good driver a mk3 can easily be in the 14's with some washers on the wastegate and a manual BC, thats about $50. Why is everyone so obbsesed with these cars? Like i've tell people all the time, "it's a supra thing", you'll just have to own one to find out why people love them. Back onto topic now, yes the targas are heavier, it requires some bracking when you cut out a section of the chassis. Don't worry about the weight, that's what adds to making the car so stable at highway speeds, instead just add more power, the 7M will put out more than you'll ever need for a daily driver with proper tuning. I actually wasn't going to reply to this because of that blow off valve question
but yes they come with a BOV, like 99.5% of turbocharged vehicles.

No because i and everyone else assumed you were talking about a MK4 in the other post when you said "twin turbo"
. Then you come here and ask why the mk3 is so slow comapred to the 4, we can't all have a block forged by the hand of Zeus and internals created by God himself like the 2JZ. The 7M is a awesome engine but it can't make 700hp daily on stock internals like the 2JZ, anyway that whole post was directed at jler6's question, not yours. Maybe thats where the confusion started.

I own a 87' N/A targa. And imho my car could probably run 14's in stock form. As far as weigth goes the hard top cars are just as heavy. First thing you should do is get some protection. Metal Head Gaskets are a definate plus due to the 7m's head gasket issues. Don't get carried away buying the best intake you can find because there all expensive, and they all "suck" the same. You can effectively rasise boost pressures by shimming the waste gate which is demonstrated at www.supras.com. The bottom end of the engine is strong enough to withstand a lot of horsepower, so more fuel, more boost. Just try to find a manual, because the auto's for the most part suck, and can only handle about 300 hp. And yes, targas are the shit!!
