MR2 Turbo vs. RX-7 Turbo

FD3S newest engine of that yr vs MR2 Turbo with newest engine of that yr, lets say they were both had same hp at the fly wheel, like around 250-300hp. which do you think, or do you know should win in a drag race, 1/4 mile? a lot of people are saying the rx-7 is so fast with the rotary, that it would destroy the mr2 even with same hp, cause the rotary design is the superior engine design no matter what. then i saw this vid of an mr2 with a little less power beating an rx-7, im sure a lot of you have seen that vid already since its kinda old, so which should win?

Re: MR2 Turbo vs. RX-7 Turbo

Well...RX-7 comes w/255HP at the flywheel...and the MR2 Turbo comes w/200HP...

RX-7 can go 0-60 in 5.1 seconds while I believe that the MR2 does it in 6.6-6.8 seconds...and in the quarter the RX-7 does it in around mid to high 13's while the MR2 is low to mid 14's...

the 91-95 mr2 does 5.9-6.3 0-60 depending on model, but i really wanna know how they would do with the same power in the 1/4, not stock. im talking about having the newest engine also, meaning getting a jdm motor for both of them. since US only saw them last in 95, while japan and some other contries still got it up untill 98 i think.

Re: MR2 Turbo vs. RX-7 Turbo

Well the JDM MR2 Turbo motor has 240 some odd HP...so it's definitely faster than the US version

anyone know for sure which is faster in the straight?? not on a track with twisties, and not the stock us version or whatever, newest jdm motor for each with same power, which should win? right now im starting to think the mr2 is slightly faster, just cause of that vid i saw, but who knows maybe the driver? im sure they were both good drivers though.

I believe they are both somewhere over 2800 lbs... the difference in weight is negligible.

When they refernce Gs they are talking corning, not straightline acceleration.

To answer the posters question, if you have 2 cars of similar weight with similar HP they should have similar 1/4 mile times.

Basic physics tells us that ... however, there will be other differences, tires, gearing, powerband... and of course driver skill.
