Best Times You have got with your DX

Its a rare thing with Engine Swaps left and right. Has anyone Modded their DX and actually got some numbers. Just thought this would be an interesting post.

Well I haven't modded mine, and haven't timed it at an official track but while racing some buddies on a makeshift 1/4 mile with stop watches I clocked in just under 17 seconds. How bout you?

Yep, I have tried the makeshift races too. I ran like a 16.8 in the 1/4 mile and a suprising 9 sec 0-60. In an auto.

I Never really got around to modding my DX, So i bought a 98 GSX instead. Yet my GF just got a DelSol S (the dx engine) so i wonder what numbers people run with mods.

Are you talking about NA applications or with some help. I've had nitrous and now I'm running a turbo on the same DX engine. I've got some ok numbers, stayed in the 14's with the nitrous and I've yet tracked it since I just got this turbo installed friday. I'm also waiting for fuel management so I havn't ran it past 6 lbs. So I basically get the engine to 4,500 and shift since I don't have the right injectors. It runs pretty stout but my goal is to run 8 - 10 lbs on this engine safely. I'll be satisfied with a 13 sec DX car.

Yup, I got about the same numbers when using Fritz's (for those of you that remember him) G-Tech in my car one day. But keep in mind I pulled a 9 sec 0-60 with him IN the car with me (he's about 6'5 tall at least, and 180 pounds) and I have an auto tranny as well. Not too shabby once he got me brake launching like a pro. Of course that was almost 2 years ago, and I'm sure I'm a little quicker now since I've modded stuff.

As for auto-X, my best finish was like 10 seconds off the pace of the average time for the race. I pulled a 75 second run time, and average was about 65 seconds with the best being around 60 seconds. Not terribly bad either for an auto DX. Well see what my latest suspension mods and more handling experience will do for my times next time I run an auto-X.

I dunno if Options posts here anymore, but he ran a 15.5 in his DX with a 55 shot of nitrous last Friday. He said he was goin' to the track on Saturday to try out a 75 shot, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

How does the OBX intake manifold work for you? Did you notice a good increase in power with it? I was looking into some more mods for my DX, and I have the OBX header already, got some good gain (power and sound) with that. I've also got an "eBay-spec" cold air intake, Tanabe Racing Medallion Exhaust, AEM underdrive pulleys, AEM cam gear, and OBX 10.3mm spark plug wires. I've also got a light weight crank pulley waiting to go on, but I can't get that crank bolt to budge for the life of me. I haven't timed any runs yet, though I topped it out at 120 a few times. I might pick up either a G-Tech or a Blitz Power Meter ID, once tax time comes around. Maybe some AEM fuel parts too.

Never heard that before.... I think removing the harmonic balancer (?) is bad if you don't put it back on, I can't remember where I heard/read that. But we'll find out. And if it FUBARs my engine, then I have a good reason to build that CRVTEC I've been wanting to build.

I've heard that removing it will get you some HP, but as you said, it is bad. And as for it being part of the stock pulley, I have no idea, I'll have to talk to a buddy of mine, his cousin works at the local honda dealership, I know he'd know.

Anyone here have any insight on this one?

As I recall, most all hondas have the harmonic balancer integrated into the crank pulley, so removing the stock crank pulley would also remove your harmonic balancer.

Okay, since my car no longer possesses a DX drivertrain or motor (swapped it out like 14 months ago for a B18B1 when the D15B7 died), I don't have any DX times. Actually, I have never taken my car to the track, so I have no times period, neither back when it was a stock DX or now that the LS is in there, lol. But on the DX topic, I read about a guy in Hawaii, like a year and a half ago, who modded his DX motor, he got it build up(it was NA) the dyno showed it to be like 140-150WHP. I know he did lots of internal work. The DX rods and such are pretty weak and flimsy, so he replaced those. I can't remember what other work he had done, though I can find it if you guys want me to. Not a bad increase from a 102 flywheel stock HP number. Anyways, i thought I'd throw that out there for yea, his HP number for his modded DX. Also, have any of you used the GTech Comp Pro? I heard someone mention it. Is it reiable and decent in accuarcy? I've been thinking of getting one for like a year or so, but never have gotten around to it. ee
