v8 sho engine = $13,000
![]() note a sho does not carry significantly higher insurance rates. and if price is not a factor for you you wouldn't care anyway. ![]() turbo? ehhh... www.howstuffworks.com chip? try a diablo chip, they seem to work good for people. try doing some looking around. www.tauruscarclub.com has a lot of cool info, search the forums for "body kit", "air filter", "exhaust" |

I agree with everyone else if you want a SHO just buy one. They made the SHO from 1989 to 1999 and the engines vary during thoughs years from the 3.0L Yamaha in the 89 to 91 the 3.2L in the 92 to 95 and the V8 3.4 in the 96 to 99. The one thing you may also what to consider is the fact that the early sho's 89-91 came with 5 speed only. they came out with the auto in 1992 I believe. Then you need to realize that the transmissions were different also the normal 3.0 tranny will not fit and the wiring harrness is different. If you want to go to all that work to save on insurance you might as well buy one considering the insurance rates are the same for all the tauruses. Yes it is possible but not recommended.

1993 was the first year for auto.
Now, I plan on debunking the modding a SHO is cheaper than SLO myth. The SHO does start with more horsepower, but no one who has reasonably modded (I mean more than a K&N drop-in) thier SHO will tell you it has been cheap. Yes, there is more of a performance aftermarket for the SHO, but it's still not cheap. The SLO will more than likely need some custom work to rig up any real power adders. To start off, theres chips, exhaust, etc... Also, maintenance is your friend. Plugs, wires, regular oil changes (synthetic, imho, is not needed; its more hype than anything), you can even go nuts and start with weight reduction. Also, if you have the duratech, there are a few goodies starting to come out, I believe a supercharger (or turbo maybe) is in the works.
