I have a 96 escort with a 1.9 J engine(blown front piston)76,000km.someone just gave me a 94 1.9 J engine 160,000km can I put this engine in the 96? is there anything I should know?

I believe the older motor does not have the tube going from the exhaust to the intake and sensor on the firewall. Be sure to use the original intake and exhaust from you car.

91-95 OBD1 "on board dianostics one"
96+ OBD2 "on boad dianostics two" Differant ways to read the check engine light. The tube that goes from the exhaust to the intake is the EGR, some escorts came with it some did'nt, depending on the emmitions law for a certain state. You dont "need" EGR, the car will run fine with out it, but you will get a CEL for a while if you remove it. |
