When was the first v-tec motor honda made put out? and what were its specs?

...as far as I know.... 90... the b16.. maybe not the first one made..but the first one put in production, I believe...

I am not sure either, but I thought the first vtec engine was the nsx one? I am probably wrong and I am trying to find where i read that.

Actually I think the nsx was the first car in America to have a vtec engine, so marked001 is probably right, but what about some of the race engines honda made? Does it have to be in a production car?

after quickly perusing the web... kinda seems like the 89 Integra xSi was the first production car with a vtec engine...
