Question Nikasil ??

Hi:

How can I (reliably) find out if my engine (May 1995 740i - 84,700 miles) is one of the "infected" Nikasil engines ?

Any ideas are highly appreciated !

Thank you !

Andreas

I had the same question my 95 740il has 82K. Talked to different dealers they acted like they never heard of this problem. One guy did tell me that the problem was correctly in 95. There is a part number located on the engine block check out the web site. I say drive it until it breaks. It's still under warranty up to 100k from BMW from what I was told. If your idle is rough do a leak down test this will let you know if you have a bad block good luck
