The D16A7 is exactly the same as the D16A6, WITHOUT a cat converter. They push out 112HP to 115HP.

It will fit straight in, but seeing as you have to have a cat converter, it will perform exactly like a normal D16A6 - 108HP.

not exactly true...., over here in the UK you only have to have a cat convertor on cars from 1992 onwards and our 4th gen babies stop in 91' so its a winner! all good.

yeh, but when he puts a 'verter on that engine it will be a D16A7 that runs like a D16A6. We also got the D16A7's here in South Africa, and we Still do not have emissions controls here. The engine code is used to identify the intake, engine and exhaust all together. Only difference between the D16A6 and A7 is the lack of the converter in the A7...

theres always an upside and downside of choosing an engine over another...such as the zc sohc( d16a7) is alot stronger and can survive (feels like its lovin it) heaps of high end revving i.e my lil ef 1990 civic has its redline at 6750rpm but it comfortably goes to 7450rpm and could do so all day..besides here in new zealand they are cheap ..i jus bought a s/h motor and box for NZD$350.00

the sohc seems to be quicker spooling then the dohc and feels alot more agressive yet the dohc has better timing capabilities ...now all i need for mine is to find an 1800cc block thet will mate up to the head and g/box

top speed 235kph with 550rpm left ( ran out of road) 145hp@wheels
