Air Conditioning

I am losing major power from my air conditioning. Is there anything I can do to at least reduce the power loss? -- Thanks.

most likely not. The A/C pulley for the honda accords is the largest accessory pulley on the car. I think it might even be larger than the crank pulley. You can remove it or you can use it and press the recycle air button. If you live somewhere warm like New Mexico you probably don't want to remove it so I'd say turn it on recycle and see if it doesn't draw as much power. I used to turn it on for a while and then after it got really cold I would just set the air so it recirculated through the car and it lasted for a while until it got warm again. You could also get lighter pulleys like UR underdrive pulleys. They don't do much, but if you get the complete set it will compensate for your power loss when you turn your A/C on. However, when you turn your A/C on with the lighter pulleys you will still feel a power loss but it will be less noticable. You could also get a smaller compressor and a smaller belt(that would probably cost you the same as getting underdrive pulleys though). Used compressor 100~200 bucks and a belt price of 20~25 dollars. Or pulleys for 200~300 fat bills. Not including labor.

the underdrives, the recycle air button, and removing it are all good options. I'd be particularly interested in the idea of a smaller compressor.....I wonder if any of perhaps the Civics or any of the smaller cars might have a smaller compressor that could be adapted w/o a great enormous amount of cost. Even better, would be if any of them just has a smaller pulley. .....hrmm , I'm going to look into this a bit further....it could help *hrmm*
