Question Idle problem..

I have done a search..not sure if I understand. Sorry for the repeated question. Anyhow..1.5 liter 16V DOHC. After running, engine warmed up, the idle starts to jump around..going up to 3000..back down to 1500-2000. Does this for about a minute or so..then back down to regular idle. I drive some more..all is fine, then out of the blue..same thing up/down. Like a stuck choke or something. Any help is greatly heeded!!!!

Andy

Hey man, I helped my friend put a b16 in his crx and his had some idle problems too. Basically you should reset the computer by turning the car off and pulling all the main fuses out. Leave them out for about 10 minutes and then plug them back in. Turn the car back on and leave it running for about 20 minutes so it can get to operating temperature. Hopefully that will fix it. If not post another reply

And if that doesn't work, replace the TPS sensor

I did the mpfi swap a month ago.
Ever since then when I start the car for the first time it idles at 2000 until it gets up to temp.
It kinda seems like a stuck choke thing to me too.
Then when it warms up it still idles a little high, but not too bad.
Could I need a new tps?
Oh ya, I did check the throttle cable and the idle is turned all the was down, so its not those things.

Thumbs up

Assuming that I don't know where this is..(well..cuz I don't)..Is this something that I can replace myself? Is there any special tools I would need? Sorry for so many questions..but I am using this as a daily driver right now and don't really have $$$ to spend at a garage to get it looked at/fixed.....

Thanks again for input..

Jesus - does anyone actually do a search on this or even read the FAQ at the top of the thread list?

Go here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t118785.html

Fucking hell - stupid idle post number 4 this week.

Cliff notes:

#1 Vacume
#2 Fast Idle Valve
#3 TPS - throw the fucking throttle body away and get a second hand one with TPS untouched on it - don't try and replace the TPS, you wont be able to do it.

#4 learn how to use the sodding search function
