Car wont let me live in piece, new engine troubles, plz give me some expertise

Ok, I was hoping to be able to get a new engine and be done with my car, but oh no, it wont have that. Here's wat happened:

The day i bring it home from getting the SOHC ZC it dies when it gets to kent island (approx 45 min from shop), and wont turnover. I go to pull out the spark plug wires, and it comes apart (the wire came out of the rubber surround thing. So i go and buy new wires thinking thats the problem, put em in, car still wont start. Sit around for like 10 min and finally it starts up. Everything is cool for a couple days, then i take it down to my uncles shop to drop off my new front bumper and it dies again. This time all the plug wires do the come apart thing. I get my uncle to look at it and he kinda ghetto put it together and then he does something that gives it spark and it starts, and again seems fine. So its fine for a day again, but then i trying gunning it and it just bogs and backfires and struggles to move. It keeps doing this through all the gears, eventually it gets a little better, but then gets worse again and died tonight. I managed to get it going again, crazy backfiring and bogging, when i revved it struggled and took a few revs to get the rpms up. And it has to be at like 3k rpms in order for it to not stall out. Could this be due to timing or is it something else?

Follow up question: I'm not positive, but i think the spark plugs may have been but on the distributor cap in the wrong order. The #1 plug (shortest plug, go to plug closest to distributor cap), is on the top right (closer to front bumper) of d. cap, #2 is top left (closer to firewall), #3 is on bottom right, #4 is on bottom left. Hopefully this isn't too confusing. If someone has a chart of the firing order that might help me out too. Thanx
