Does anyone know how to program the remotes for a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT? I've tried the instructions regarding removing the MALL PGM fuse, turn on ignition to ACC, turn ignition back to OFF and back to ACC in 1 second, open/close a door quickly...you will hear a chime...etc
But I keep hearing a succession of chimes, followed by a pause, then another succession of chimes, pause, succession of chimes... I continue with the instructions and can never get the Key Fob programmed.....HELP.... Any help would be greatly appreicated! Thanks in advance, Jeff |

Re: Grand Prix 2000, Remote reprogramming
There's a post a few threads down about this. I'll tell you what I told that guy...go to www.clubgp.com and search. There was a few different sets of instructions. I remember the 00+ instructions being different than the pre 00 instructions. So search that forum and see what you can find.

Re: Re: Grand Prix 2000, Remote reprogramming
Thanks BurningRom, I have reviewed that site without any luck on my problem, which is basically, I have the instructions but at the point where you here 1 chime, I am hearing multiple, pause, multiple chime again...which is not what the instructions indicate...then I open/close the door but do not get the transmitter reprogrammer. I am hoping someone knows why my results are different then what the instructions indicate or do I need to do something a bit different?

Re: Re: Re: Grand Prix 2000, Remote reprogramming
These instructions showed up in one of the threads I have bookmarked from ClubGP. You can give them a shot:
Here's the procedure for programming the keyless entry transmitter: 1. Sit in driver's seat. 2. Remove ignition key from ignition 3. Close all doors 4. Press and Hold the Door's Lock switch to the Unlock position. 5. Insert and remove the ignition key twice (don't rotate the cylinder - leave in off) 6. Insert the ignition key a third time, leaving it in the cylinder 7. Release the Door's lock switch from the Unlock position Three fast chimes will indicate the system is entering programming mode 8. On the keyless entry transmitter, press and hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously. Two fast chimes will be heard to confirm programming of the keyless entry. You may have to hold both buttons for up to 12 seconds 9. Repeat step 8 for each transmitter. 10. Remove ignition key from cylinder. I had the correct ones bookmarked at one time...but then the forums were redsigned and none of my links worked anymore

Thanks again BurningRom...last night I was fed up, my stereo had also gone into LOC mode, actually INOP mode, as I do not have the original owner's security code...so I unplugged the battery and voila, my transmitters were now working...go figure...I could kill....anyhow I ended up finding out how to get the factory security code for the radio and got that working....all is well now....
Thanks again....Jeff |
