eclipse vr-4?

I was just wondering, but with the right kind of money do you think I could run a vr-4 motor in an 98 eclipse?

Just wondering, why would you want to do that? Isn't the power/weight ratio going to be about the same once its completed? so is there really a benefit? Money in a light 4cyl, money in a heavy 6cyl?

I would much rather have a heavy 6 cylinder with double the horespower of a light 4 cylinder for my car. Plus it is a known fact that 3000 gt vr-4 motors are good friends with twin turbos.

It is one hell of a sweet idea. And it would be a tight sleeper. Esp if your car is clean, just some rims or something. Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the VR4 mounted opposite of the eclipse? (transverse/longitudinally)

3KGT VR-4 motors don't have double the HP of the stock 4G63 in an Eclipse. 276hp vs. 210hp. Plus the 4G63 is a much more capable, refined platform than that big 6cyl. twin-turbo. You can get over 500hp out of a 4G63. Spending all that money trying to squeeze the 6cyl. and new tranny in an Eclipse is pointless, when you could build the stock motor to over 400hp with about half the money. That's why pretty much nobody does an engine swap in a turbo Eclipse. The stock motor is probably the best tuning platform in the world of imports.

i agree with blazingstar... if you want the vr-4 why dont you sell your eclipse and just put all the money you would be putting in the engine swap too use in a 3000gt... but me personally love my 4G63 and would rather have that... but anyway if you do go threw with it post some pics for us too see... good luck

I have a 98 eclipse gs so my engine is nowhere near 200 hp. And I love eclipses but can't afford the insurance of a gst or gsx. I also want people to see a gs sticker and think its only got the power of a gs. Then I will just laugh as I look at them in my rear view.
