thats kinda simplified but i'm sure it will help. i'm not much of a drifter (i love auto-x) but i think a 2 way would be better for drifting. i could be wrong tho, but at least that artical will help. |

2 ways will hurt your handling. 1.5s won't really, but the best lsd for handling is the quaife. nothing touches a quaife. get one.

the 2 way would be good for someone who is deeply in autox or drifting and does it a whoooooooooole lot. and has the room to let its technology shine. and btw, the 1.5s cost the same as the 2's cause the clutch plate design inside is generally the same, its only the clutch disc faces that are different and allow for different reactions in turns. so being the same, since the 2 way does deceleration at equal speed BUT reduces handling efficiency at low speed, its a trade off, and the prices match up to about the same thing. thats what i would figure, after reading how they are made.

Id take a 1.5 way for a grip racing car. 2 way locks on decceleration as well....
so when you downshift into another gear you risk having the rear end break out and you could get some snap oversteer, especially if turning into a turn.... if your car is setup for racing and you are skilled at it a 2way MIGHT be better, but all its doing is keeping the rear wheels the same speed in a decceleration process so I don't see much of a benefit. You have to be gentle with it and know the track and your lines. open diffrentials are actually the best for manuverabilty, but they don't put the power down when your back on the gas in a turn. With both wheels locked together you put down the torque better but you loose some of the cornering ability. Almost kinda like a real stiff sway bar, it keeps the body roll down a lot, but it might kill some of your turn in and make u less agile in certain situations. its all your call, its your car lol don't get this for your drift car cause Mario Andretti says its cool on his race car...... two different machines.... |
