Battle of Japanese Supercars: Supra Vs. Skyline GT-Rs

Which one would you take in terms of perfomance, after market parts/scene, power, and overall value?

Re: Battle of Japanese Supercars: Supra Vs. Skyline GT-Rs

I would choose the Skyline just because AWD is better for handling...the R32 is 2800 lbs...lighter than the 3500 lbs the Supra MKIV is...so it's got it beat there...and both engines are formidable...so it's really preference

Gotta go with the Supra. Though I bought my VR4 over the Supra (and still would), I think the Supra is a sharp looking car and the Skyline resembles a shoe box.

I also disagree with either of those being Japanese “supercars”. They are good to awesome on the track, but hardly in the supercar category.

Re: Battle of Japanese Supercars: Supra Vs. Skyline GT-Rs

I guess the only real supercars in Japan are R390 GT1 road version...and the Tommy Kaira ZZII (2300 lbs and a Skyline GTR engine w/600 some odd HP and of course AWD)

What would be Japanese "supercars" then?

Reason why I pick both the Skyline and Supra is because there are almost limitless in what you can do with them. I'm talking about 1500hp+ hp for the highest modified ones.

Re: Re: Battle of Japanese Supercars: Supra Vs. Skyline GT-Rs

As stated in another thread...a supercar IS not measured by HP/speed alone...alot of it has to do w/price, exclusivity, class, and craftsmanship...

For instance...the ZO6 is as fast as the 911 Turbo in alot of aspects and beats it in many tests...BUT...would you go as far as to say that it's a supercar or exotic? Hells no...the 911 Turbo has way more class and refinement...I mean you do pay for the Porsche badge but you also get a far superior fit and finish in the car than the ZO6 which has a HORRENDOUS interior...and that's being nice

yeah.. a supercar is paying for more than hp... we're also talking about handling, looks, exotica factor (a.k.a. head turners), fine italian leather :-P, and a wad of cash. But I'd probably have to say skyline. I like the Awd thing w/ the japanese cars... they do it well. But I'd take the supra's looks over the skyline anyday. The supra has better looking body kits too (veilside does some damned good work)

lordy lordy lordy

man oh man you all need to re-evalute the question....there really is no comparison between any supra and any skyline to start. Second...NISSANSPDR, the R32 is only RWD not AWD and is only capable of between 600 and 700 hp(with the stock engine)....and the R34 is most definatly a super car....it has been quoted as being the best car sold in the world from handling to power right out of the box(when I find the actual quote again I will post it) and the fact that it can get 1200HP+ with half the expense of just about any car in the world that should make it a supercar in everyones eyes. And if it looks like a shoebox to anyone.....wait till you see one haulin ass up to your bumper....it will look like a REALL FAST MOUTH COMING TO EAT YOU UP!

but yes....everyone is entitled to their own opinion

when we were talking about super car we were refering to the class known as exotica. Not a 40k sports compact car. A skyline does have the potential to be a super car, but it is not one. See what I'm gettin at? And yes, there is a lot of preference in determining which car you would own. Some people like the floating of a skyline and some prefer the oversteer of a supra. A stock supra has a slightly higher top speed because it is running on only the rear wheels. And a skyline has a better launch because of 4 wheel drive. So if we're talking about stock cars there is a lot of preference to driving styles. But yes, as stated earlier in this thread I do prefer the skyline. It isn't as appealing for the eye as a supra, but it does have some good body kits.

U are right saying that ther's only 2 Supercars in Japan, but they are the Skyline and the ZZII!

The R34 has beaten the Supra in all aspects of the game. it has better accel, hight top speed, better handling, exotic interior, and the R34's body is a work of art, it's true beauty!

I would have to go with a Skyline. Supras are just waay too over rated. And of course you gotta stick with the all wheel drive. Also you cant do an 11sec quarter mile with a family of 4 in the car in any Supras, but you can in a Skyline. And that would just be sweet to see.

Dude, stock skylines run a 13.X 1/4 mile. Very few cars can run that. Unless u put a whole shit full of $ under the hood that aint gonna happen.
