How Much Boost...
How much Boost could a stock B16 take on 91 octane gas.
I plan on running stock Ignition system with the exception of Zex Spark Plugs. The fuel system will consist of a 255lth Fuel Pump, 450cc injectors, AEM Fuel Rail & FPR. I plan on running a T3/T4 turbo the wastgate comes with a 8psi spring... is 8psi too much ? thanks

on a b16a psi is the highest id go...id run 6psi on the street to be safe...u got a nice fuel set up goin there though...definately good enough to run more boost...but i think u should build up some internals first if ya gonna run 8 or higher....JUst to be safe

8 psi is fine. 7 psi is the most common ive seen ran tho.

Stock b16a's can handle 10psi safely with ample fuel and GOOD TUNING, but 8psi is good for the street. As for you fuel system, ditch the rail. Your stock fuel rail can support up to 500hp. Also I see you are planning on using 450cc injectors, your car is going to run rich unless you get some kind of engine management, the stock ecu cant idle those very well. That will also keep you from needing an adjustable fpr. Between the rail and the fpr you can save about $300 and put it towards an engine managment device of your chosing, I recommend hondata (base $450) or at least an afc. At the VERY least an fmu although it will still idle rich and shitty with the 450cc.

I was thinking Apexi VAFC... thanks for the advice on the Rail and the FPR I did not buy those yet.

The apexi setup is what i use now. It is pretty good for up to 10psi with the 450cc's. I would still recommend getting it dyno tuned with the afc. You won't have precision tuning like you would with most other EMS but it's good on the street and for the price. In my experience, I would recommend just getting the apexi safc rather than the vafc. Changing the vtec crossover isn't going to net you much of anything under boost worth the extra money.

you should be able to run up to 10psi if properly tuned, make sure fuel is there. upgrading your cooling sytem and a oil cooler can help to keep reliable

so if i were to build a b20/vtec sleeved, pistons, rods, cams, etc.....with drag 3 turbo.....what should i have in terms of fuel and engine management? i was thinking a hondata s200, 510cc injectors(too small?), aem feul rail, what type feul pump?, and what else for my fuel and engine management? what all would i need in you guys' opinions?
thanks alot |

And should I use some used injectors from a turbo eclispe? Now let's remember, practally this whole kit is used so suggesting new parts will not help me any. I just want to reach 8-10 lbs without leaning out. Can somebody help me? FnkDrSpok

I got my injectors of a 98 or 99 gst for $50, has them balanced and flow tested with near perfect results. You do need some sort of ems and a adjustable FPR is not necessary. I didnt say lowering the vtec crossover wouldnt have any effect, just not eough to warrant spending the extra money. Hell even the NA guys will tell you to save your money. Leave it where it is intended to be set at unless you are prepared to spends lots of time on the dyno.
