Opinions on a 93 Mr2

I am thinking of buying a 93 mr2 non turbo automatic, yeah i know im a pussy. it has about 120k on it. it was driven by a chick so it must not have been driven that hard. the exterior and everthing else looks pretty damn good theyre asking $4500 which i think is a little high. any opinions on the price or how far you think i might be able to bring them down too. i can afford but i think im getting screwed

93 Mr2

I have a 93 MR2, bought it a year ago, from a kid, about 25 years old. It had 169K miles on it when we bought it, car in good shape red paint shiny, no rust dents or body damage of any kind. First owner was a a doctor, kid bough it from him, after having worked all through hight school saving his money to buy the MR2. He put all the miles on it driving back and forth while he was in college. We paid $3200 for it for my 17 year old son, and have since had the interior redone in red and black leather, AC converted, new clutch, new timing belt, one tie rod and brake caliper replaced, and a new set of emergency brake cables and tires. I did get rather nervous when I had trouble getting it inspected a month or so ago. Turns out it needed a tune up, spark plugs wires, distributor cap and timing adjusted to pass the emissions part of the inspection. When I had it in the shop this weekend getting the timing belt done they said the rear seals and water pump would need replacing soon, but that other than that it appeared to mechanically very sound and like we would then not need any other repairs for three or four years, which was encouraging! I expected, buying a 10 year old car from a recently graduated college student to be prepared to spend some money fixing things, I did not bother to have to the car checked by a mechanic before buying it because it ran well, started right up, didn't smoke and looked really good for a 10 year old car, inside and out and my son wanted it. Only damage to the interior was wear on the bolster of the driver's side seat, just from sliding into it. I was impressed that I could get a brand new driver with no prior insurance, male age 17 insured to drive it for only $140 a month, given that it is small red and pretty fast.

Car runs very well, fun to drive, unless it's raining, and then you really have to watch how fast you corner, other than on wet pavement it sticks to the road like glue!

My son is a high school student and drives it back and forth to school and he really enjoys it. Before I would buy it and pay $4,500 for one, I would have it inspected carefully at a toyota dealership or trusted mechanic if you have one, but you would surely enjoy the car, they are a blast.

Good luck!
