i would take an 02-03 3.5 maxima over the others(so i did). i think the 04's are funny lookin and too heavy at almost 3500 lbs. the 240hp accord is a close second with better interior quality than the others, but a lower amount of torque and to hell with a camry.
if you're talking all brand new 04 cars though, i'd take the v6 accord, then maxima then the camry.

1. 2002-2003 Maxima 3.5L. I would take this before the other two any day of the week. They are better looking, better performing, and a blast to drive. They also make a great sleeper. I don't like the new model as much because of the front grill. Those Frenchies ruined a good thing.

2. 2004 Accord V6. As a coupe this is a very good looking car. I took it second because it is reliable and more gas conservative. While the Maxima is a reliable car it is more performance minded and that is more important to me. I would rather have fun with my car.

3. 2004 Camry V6. All I can say is this car is slow, and butt ugly compared to the others. I would never buy this car let alone ride in one.

We bought the 02 Accord EX V6 because it was enough for my wife. If we had set a higher budget for the car, we would have gotten the Maxima then and I’d get it now. It’s a higher category car then the Accord or Camry. The Altima is Nissan’s equivalent of the Camry and Accord.

I'd take an Accord- but only just- while being sort of stupid looking- it is reliable, well designed and engineered, has VTEC- which is impressive which ever way you look at it. The Maxima is second- bigger, ballsier engine, but chronically dull looking and a good drive by big sedan standards. The Camry is dead last- what a pile of horse shit.

3.5 maxima... it's the same engine used in the z.. it's a power house engine y'all. No arguing that. Yeah, it's sorta ugly, but it's beautiful under the hood.

Just my two cents

Hi, i was browsing through the web and came across this particular thread via search engine.
I am not a " know it all" guy, but I always thought that even though Maxima ended up as the main competition to Accord and Camry ( before the introduction of the all new Altime), it was never considered to be of the same class. I always thought that Maxima's were more upscale than both the Accord and the Camry, and therefore it would not make sense to compare it with Accord and camry. Just my opinion.

About the Accord vs Camry V6, are we also including the coupes too, because i would take the Camry Solara over the Accord Coupe any day of the week. Again, just my opinion.

Re: Maxima V6 vs Accord V6 vs Camry V6

Did you made the wrong level of comparison?
The Accord, Camry should be the same grade of Altima instead of Maxima...
Maxima is just like the Avalon, isn't it?

Although the camry is the slowest and possibly the least exciting out of the group it is with out a doubt my far the best made. Go with it if your looking for a dead reliable car

Re: Maxima V6 vs Accord V6 vs Camry V6

accord v6 for me.

maxima is kinda out of place for comparison. i think maxima is better compared to the toyota's avalon or mitsubishi's diamante. honda doesent have a car to compete with those class of cars. just the accord in the midsize class.
