I am trying to change my automatic transmission filter. I checked at autoparts stores and they dont carry the one that I have. According to my sticker on my door I have an A340E tranny, but I purchased that particular filter and it is completely different. I looked on the actual tranny and it says model# 03-40LE, So I am wondering if I have a special tranny or what.
Sorry for the long thread. Any information would be helpful. |

AT filter
Why not just go down to your Toyota Parts Counter and get a factory replacement part? If I were considering buying your used Tacoma I would greatly appreciate the couple of extra bucks you spend on a Toyota Japan filter. (Not to mention a high quality Synthetic ATF) I get wholesale prices at my local dealer, there is probably a dealer in your area that would do the same. If not, order on-line.

I believe there may be two or three different filters for the A340E tranny, depending on the month and year your truck was built. Check the label in the driver's side door jam and mention that to the dealer. BTW, you might ask the dealer if you can just clean yours. The filter on the A340F is a screen mesh, which can be easily cleaned with brake cleaner. I went to the dealer to purchase and a filter, and they informed me that mine can be cleaned. Good luck! |
