Heating controller problems

Hello everyone!!

I've got problems with the control of the heating in my M635CSi. It knows only hot or cold. What can I do? I've heard there should be a sensor which checks the temperature of the cabin. But it isn't there.

Does anyone know, where this controller/sensor is, and where I could get it, because I think the pre-owner has removed it, like the air-condition system too!! Very kind....

:alien: Since M6s' were mainly European except for a couple years when they were officially shipped to the U.S. the parts exclusively made for that particular model are very, very expensive. The last owner probably couldn't find the sensor to buy it. If you can get it, the only way to find it would be to remove the driver side kick panel(by the pedals) and maybe even the radio, and start tracing wires. The only part of the system that controls the heater, would be connected to the controls, or the vent boxes.

I am new to this forum and have recently purchaced a 635. I also had the fault were there was either no heat or Hot. I gave up and took it into a BMW Shop and it was something they run into all of the Time called the Mono Valve. This is a valve which controls the amount of hot or A/C it puts into the car. It costed about $180 cdn. for the repair kit and the system works perfect.Also not sure but I believe this is in the Ducting?

Great resource. What happens to these valves is the tapered plunger valve breaks, and when it does its all or nothing.

Heater Control Valve Part Number

If your heating system fails or is acting up, the first thing you should check/change is the heater control valve. When this valve starts acting up you will get symptoms from heat constantly on to it warms in stop-and-go traffic and cools at highway speed. The swap out is pretty simple and, if you work carefully and quickly, it is NOT necessary to drain any coolant before you change the core. Loosen the valve assembly from the firewall and lift it up as high as possible. A bungy chord can be used to hold it up. It is not necessary to buy the entire valve.

The part number for the core is:64-11-8-390-132

The list price in Feb/95 was $39.49
