I just wanted to show you guys my prototype Escalade EXT. This is still in the first phases of the proccess of modification so some things are still being worked on (namely the exhaust and rims).
I just bought some 1:18 Replacement Dub City rims off of Ebay. You probably know what i'm talking about. Just put in "Dub Rims" and you will find many examples all totalling around $14 for a set of 4 spintek rims. I was pleased with the quality of the rims except for the size. A member of AF had complained to me about this so I wanted to find out for myself what these rims were like. They are approximately 1.4 inches in size compared to the TRUE 1:18 dub city rims that come straight off a Dub city car which are 1.6 inches. Basically these are 20"s or at best 22"s. They are almost identical to the true dub rims and i'm pressed with the quality. They come with loads of extra axles as well as many pins to fit in the spinners (bolts). Check them out on my Escalade. The Rims do not have the stock tires on them which are low pros. The tires you see are actually reversed Hummer H1 tires from a maisto model. I like the rims but I'm not at all fond of the tires which look a little too much like they came from an offroad vehicle (which they did). Since these rims slipped on so easy I can remove them again. I really need some feedback!http://community.webshots.com/album/92015820uACkWt (If the link above doesn't work try the Gafotes link in my sig and go into misc) |

Re: Prototype Escalade EXT
That looks very good! I agree with you on the tires, I've never seen non lo-pros on 22"s, but in real life, the rims have zero chances of getting bent! haha
I remember I wrote a thread a while back and I mentioned the exact same thing "You know what im talking about, the sets of dubs you buy from ebay for about 14" So how would you rate the difficulty of putting the rims on? The cars roll right? Thanks! and Keep up the good work! |

Re: Re: Prototype Escalade EXT
Putting the rims on this escalade took me about 2 minutes, no joke. Since it comes with extra axles I just slipped on one of those in the back and got them on real quick. The front ones took a little bit longer but I didn' have to change screws (they're held on to the assembly by screws) and they fit straight into the sockets. They dont roll very smoothly but with a minute or two of sandpaper they could probably roll better. They actually turn....but the size of the tires limits them. I'm currently working on some other possiblities for rims.

Check out the final rims for the slade in the gafoto link in my sig. These rims had to be modified a little bit to fit them into a suitable position. They were stolen off the hummer so i'm now having to work on putting some decent rims on that thing while I work on its lights....
Expect another EXT soon. I just got my black EXT and I have already put the 28"s on it and i'm actually just in the process of painting parts and carpeting the interior. It'll look really similar to this car except for the rims (Oasis B-1s). Enjoy! |
