Lotus 107B

I've posted here a couple of times but have only finished this one model since I arrived! I suppose I'd better get on and paint the Toyota GT-1 that's been sitting on my bench for a few months!!!!!

Anyway, here it is...

Constructive Criticism welcomed.

Nicely done example of an under-rated F1 car. How bad was it to get the decals to lay on the cowling?

Thanks!

The decals were a pain, but a lot of fun!!! They actually conformed really well with a lot of MicroSol, the one on the nose was the hardest but the Sol and a hairdryer did the job OK. The worst problem with the decals was a slightly darker strip along the edges of some decals from the printing but this was easily solved with a knife and some more sol to set the edge down. I think I used about half a bottle of sol on this car!

I also made the car curbside as it was a rush job so this made it easier to align the decals from the monocoque to the engine cover.

Re: Lotus 107B

Just figured I'd dig this thread up to say well built, since I missed it first time around. I'm a big Lotus fan and your 107B looks great!

I built the 1992 107 many years ago and want to build them all again. Especially the 1994 107C, with an apropriate Mugen Honda engine transplant.

That’s a great build willster, looks really good.
I also have build this same model many years ago, but using a extended decal set to do a replica of the car used by Portuguese driver Pedro Lamy in the final four races of 1993.
Unfortunately at the time I was ages to know that things like Micro Sol existed so all the decals were applied just with tepid water.

Nice and clean build, well done!, its about time we got some F1 cars here, Im a big F1 nut and i have a lot of kits on the subject. Ive always liked this livery best on the past Lotus cars.

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated.

snk33y, there's more F1 on the way for you, it's pretty much all I build. The Benetton B188 is the one I'm currently working on.
