1993 vr4

Hey im looking at getting a 1993 3000gt vr4. I'm wondering if there are any special things i should be looking for on it. Also, is 1993 a good year of it? I know that 91-93 and 94-98 were different in ways, and are performance mods as good as the 94-98 ones? Any input is greatly appreciated. thanks!

The 93 is a great year for the 3000GT VR-4. It has the upgraded engine internals and drive train of the later years, and better gearing for the 1/4 mile. As far as mods, anything that will fit a 91 will fit a 99, except for body panels(front end changed in 94 and again in 99).

When ya look at it make sure you dont get over excited and buy it with checking it over. Turbo's normally go around 100k miles, so make sure you figure that in to expencenses if its close to that. As about the 60K service, it should have been performed around 60K miles(reciepts??). And make sure the transmision shifts smooth, if a quick shift results in a grinding, weather heard or only felt in the stick, it means the synco is begining to go on that gear. Not a compleate disaster, but it should be fixed and may bring down the price. For reference a tranny rebuild costs around 2000.

Im sure yogs will pick up the stuff ive missed. Also check out www.3si.com, lots of info on there.

Doesn't look like you've missed anything important to me I would also ask if they have done all the recalls on the car (there were a few on my 94 & 95 so I imagine they were on the 93s as well).

Like any other car, you'll want a competent mechanic to give it the once over to give you their assessment.

The VR4 is a great ride - good fortune

Update: The car has 130000 miles on it. He said he had some work done to the tranny having to do with the 1st three gears but they did it wrong and so he is having it redone. What should i be checking for on the vehicle, and especially since it has 130000 miles. Thanks so much for your help.
