Drove a W12 Phaeton today!

It's that time of year again. VW is having their Northeast Regional conference at the Sagamore Hotel, and this year, they brought a Phaeton with them. I work at the hotel as a bellman/valet, and my supervisor needed someone to help him move some cars to where the meeting/dinner reception was. There was a new Jetta, a new Passat, and another one I'd never seen before. Since I "volunteered" to help, they gave me the good one: the Phaeton! Anyways, after moving it, I ran to my car and grabbed my digital camera, and was able to snap a few pics of it before it ran out of juice.

Yeah, it was pretty fast. I didn't get much of a chance to get on it, though. When I showed my boss that the speedometer went up to 200, I believe his exact words were "if you get it anywhere near that, you're fired." And the island speed limit is 15 mph, which doesn't allow for much enjoyment. But, once he was out of sight, I was able to stomp on it for a few seconds, and it was pretty fast, made my head snap back a bit. And it sounded sweet as hell, nice, high pitch to it.

As for the price, the man I spoke to said they'd be in showrooms next month, with a price of about $65-$70K. Way out of may price range. But still nicest VW I've ever driven.

Re: Drove a W12 Phaeton today!

You know someone is gonna do it eventually.... drop the Phaeton's W12 into a GTI or a Rabbit. It's only a matter of time. A 12 cylinder GTI would be sick, especially with a super-custom twin-turbo setup. It would be tons of work, but imagine the payoff!

o.o Thats wierd my VW dealership has a couple of demos non to by yet, but a long waiting list and about 3 demos out front, i thought about buying a Phaeton, but i dont think i would like it, it was very big and i personally like the Bently Arnage T better and the Infinitie Q45, i like those alot better, they rode better down the interstate

I love the new Q45, what a kick ass car, and pretty fast too. I'm not a big fan of VW's, but the Phaeton was a sweet car, although I've driven way better.

I'll agree with you there on the Bentley, they are sweet cars. The Turbo R is one sick car. And which Audi are you referring to, the RS6 or S8, or something else? i don't know too much about them Audi's.
