'96 Camry CEL Problem

My girlfriend's car just had the check engine light come on. It's a 4 cylinder 96 with about 145,000 miles on it. Do you guys know how to, one, get it to flash me the code and, two, turn the light off? Thanks.

You have to take it in to a garage that can hook it up to get that code. Just make a deal to get them to get the code. I think 20 or $30 would be enough. Look the code up on internet to find problem. By the way I have a 96 with 141K miles running strong.

Many autoparts supply stores will do this for free. TrakAuto for example. Don't try to shut off the light until you've got the code. You shut off the light by pulling the fuse to the ECM for 30 seconds.
