can't hear vtec????

i got my apexi vafc wired up and im not hearing vtec. i set it to engage at 7000 and i did feel a big difference(slower) then when it was engaging at 5000, so i know its working, but maybe somethign is not right? the person i bought the engine from said he could hear it really well when it kicked in. and i have heard others kick in alot louder than mine. i have a d16z6 with intake, dc headers, and greddy cat-back. i think the timing is off, but not by much, could that be it? im not really worried about hearing it, but im about to put a turbo kit on and i wanted to make sure everything is running good before i do. thanx for any help.

Just because you cant hear it doesnt mean its not working. You cant hear my buddies vtec kick in his 13 second ls/vtec setup. But you sure can feel it.

ROFLMAO at engaging it at 7000

WTF??!!!!!!

BTW - it's a SOHC VTEC - like you're really going to hear much compared to a DOHC.

The person you bought it off - I hope he wasn't selling real estate on the moon too - 'cause you sound like the kind of person that'd believe anything you were told :P:P:P

Sorry - I just find this whole thread funny

I've never been able to hear VTEC on the SOHC, but on DOHC, thats a little different story.

ok for one, the reason i had it engaging at 7000 was so i could tel the difference between when it was engaging at 5000. i didnt know any other way of turning it off. and the guy i bought it from was a friend and i have a few other friends that rode in it and said the same thing. but thanx alot for the smart ass remarks asshole. and no one is really helping me out, i iknow i have heard vtec kick in on the y8's before, but this is the first z6 that i have been in, and i can't hear it at all.

If you can feel it kick in then it's working....it doesn't matter if you can hear it or not....butt dyno is more important in my opinion.

DYNO! you need to dyno tune your vtec controller for it to be running "right" mine is not tuned and you simply cant tune it by feel ive tried and its just not as effective as getting it dyno tuned
