740i performance

Does anyone one know where I can get the facelifted version of the E38's headlamps and taillamps. I want to install some on a 1998 740iL.

Your local BMW dealer should have some, otherwise try eBay.

I have done a DIY facelift for headlights

which involves removing the 95-98 style headlights and replacing the inner parts to make them look like the 99-01 style. The only issue that you have to deal with is that the 99-01 turn signal lens is smaller than the 95-98 style. When you retorfit the 99-01 style or replace the headlights/turn signal lenases, there is a gap below the new turn signal lens. I filled mine with a part I created out of the old turn signal lens and it worked perfectly and looks great on a Jet Black car. The other alternative is to have new fenders installed... for a thousand bucks... (not in my budget!)

Read all about what I did to facelift my car DIY for a few hindred dollars vs. thousands on my car domain web site linked in ym signature...
regards,
john

On the topic of the front head lights, where Can I buy the 99-01 ones? And Where Can I buy a filler? If necessary, I will buy the bumper. And about the rear tail lights, Where can I buy them, and is it necessary to do anything more than take the old ones out and putting the new ones in?

Well from my knowledge, the best place for you to buy them flawless is your local dealership. Other websites or places might not be so trustworthy if you know what I mean. Also, it really isn't necessary, the 1999-2001 lights were a little bit more efficient electrical wise, and had better visibility, but, mostly for styling. So it's not necessary, but you can, for better visibility, style, and efficiency. But wati for a little more feedback from the other people, you could see what they say, and then decide from there.
