Starting from a stop is always the hardest part of owning a manual. When the car stutters give it more gas. You also have to give it a little gas before you let the clutch out in the first place. You probably want to bring the RPMs up to around 1700, then keep it there till your moving.

first, go to a wide open area where its level, with enough room ahead of u, and very few cars, or wherever seems to be a good area, just to be safe.

heres a simple explination. give it some gas to about 1500-2000rpm, wherever it seems to be good at, slowly let the clutch out, and as soon as it kicks in, give it a little more gas, while slowly letting the clutch out.

and heres the complex one. ok now when ur in first gear, with the clutch down of course, give it some gas to about 1500- 2000rpm, wherever seems enough. slowly let the clutch out, slower than u ever have before, think of it as if ur legs almost still but still moving, but then hold it still in the middle for a sec, and control it, and let it go real slow to the end. basically control ur clutch and gas together, if it starts to jerk, push the clutch down a little, and give it a little more gas, not too much, and then slowly let off the clutch again while giving it more gas, but controling the gas. if this doesnt work theres no hope for u, u just suck hahahahahaha just kidding, dont worry, just keep practicing. thats how i learned how to drive a manual, i kept trying, and practiced everyday.

omg!! i have two personalities!!!!!
haha jk!

1st gear always stupped me when I was learning. I still stall-out at lights sometimes What I did was first I'd start the car with my left foot on the clutch and my right on the brake (and of course I'm in first gear). I slowly switched my right foot onto the accelator. I push in the accelator just a tiny bit while I let the clutch half way out. You'll begin to feel the clutch "grab" (you'll definity feel this if your getting into first on a hill; it'll roll back and while you're doing all this to make the car get into gear you'll feel it grab and it sits there like an automatic would instead of rolling back). When you feel this you'll want to give just a little more gas. You'll start to feel the car move and then you slowly let the clutch out once this happens. From there maunal is a lot easier. Good luck with my shitty instructions

Re: manual

The easiest way to learn clutch control is to use the clutch without the gas. Go to a big level parking lot, stop in 1st gear & slowly let the clutch out without killing the car. Then add the gas & you should be nice & smooth.

Re: Re: manual

Wanna know how I learned how to drive a 5 speed? I drove my dad's car and he led in my truck, which was a manual... We were like driving and driving and driving... he said he had to pick something up in the truck and needed me to watch and make sure that nothing fell.. So we're like 45 minutes away from my house, in the middle of nowhere. He stops and gets out. I get out too. He gives me the truck keys, gets in his car and says "see you at home", and drives off.

I got home 6 hours later.

the way that my dad taught me was to slowly let out on the clutch until the car starts to roll then press the gas....it worked for me b/c i couldnt drive a stick for nothing .....i just had to go where there werent any cars and practice.

remember, practice makes perfect.....

Practice all you can and you'll get it in no time!

As long as you give it enough gas to go to 1500-2000 rpms, you'll be ok, just worry about the clutch, and release slowly. Learn to control the speed with the clutch. Eventually you'll get good and you'll take off with ease, dont worry about being good quite yet.
