Cost of body work?!?!

Hey all,

I have the chance to buy a 93 civic. The only problem is that there is some damage to the front end. I will definitely need to replace the bumper, the headlights and the rad. Maybe the front passenger side fender. I was just wondering how much (approx.) that would cost. I could get the car for $1000 (maybe less) as is. Everything seems to be in great shape. I'm trying to see if this is worth it. I'm going to post some pics too.

EDIT// Need a new hood too (duh)

EDIT 2// I actually don't need a new bumper!! Upon reflection it's in good shape (just not attached)

will you be doing the work yourself?? if so, you can save alot of money. You can probably get everything for under $500 if you do it yourself to whereas you take it to a body shop, you will easily spend over a $1000. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

if there is no structural damage it'd be super cheap to do. but if there is (and there probably is) it wouldn't be worth your time.

...

I got in an accident about 6 months ago, afterwards my car looked EXACTLY how it is in the picture. The biggest problem I had was getting the hood to latch again, it never latched the way it originally did. Also, a lot of the engine appeared intact, but about 5000 miles later, things started coming loose, falling apart, etc. Eventually I ended up donating it.

I HIGHLY reccomend you DO NOT buy this car. It will always cause problems even when you think its 100% normal. It's not worth the hassle, or the money.

You should be able to acquire all the parts from a junkyard for about $40-50 if you're going to get your own or $300-500 if you buy them dismantled. Painting the fender will be about $100 if there are no dings to remove, $150 with dings removed (sorry I cannot see the pics). Standard Auto Wreckers in the GTA has $45 days; when you pay $45 for all that you can carry, look for that kind of deal if you really want to save money. Be warned that there are not many fifth generation Civics in Canadian junk yards. My sister has a 93 and I always have to check a few places before finding her the right parts for a good deal.
