Where can I find D-series motors?

I want to swap either a d16z6 or a y8 into a '91 CRX. I haven't found any online sites that sell jdm d-series motors, though. Does anyone know where I could find one of these? Also, would you recommend the z6 or the y8? I want as new of an engine as possible, but I heard that the z6 head flows better. Any other differences? Thanks.

check local shops, they probably will have some laying around from swaps they did where they took it out. or even if your lucky like me you will have a honda specific shop and they can get you anything, i picked mine up for 600 at a place called hondamans *z6*

if your staying obd0 you have to buy a vtec controller and hook it up and you have to use an a6 distributor assuming you have an si,you can have it on str8 with one bolt which i did and made special brackets for it so oil doesent leak,or you can turn it crooked and use 2 bolts to hold it on but if you go with the y8 the a6 dizzy bolts right up

just some things to think about if your staying obd0

Thanks for the help. I don't mind going through the extra effort to convert to OBD2. Basically, I'm looking for a reliable car that gets good mileage but is also fun to drive. Problem is, I only have about $2500. With that kind of money, I figure a z6 or y8-powered CRX is the way to go.

bad thing about obd2 is its harder to tune and to get power from, might wanna think about that too but for 2500 you could do either obd1 or obd2 conversion correctly

2500.....hmmmn you could do pretty good with a zc...and the extra cash can get you going pretty good...if not u can get a b16 and the necessary parts for 2500.

Sorry, I need to clarify a bit. I have $2500...but no car. That's why I'm going with a CRX. I figure I can get one for $1500-I saw a good one the other day for $1300. Then I'd have roughly $1000 left for the motor, which makes a D-series my only viable option. That's fine with me, though. I don't need to run 13's. I just want a car that's fun to drive and reliable.

you could find a CRX cheaper than that, Ive seen them going for like $500-800 around here. Just wait because most likely a cheap one will pop up with no motor in it and you'll be set. I like the Z6 better than the Y8...just seems like an overall better motor.

i dont understand why people are still going zc unless you bebuild it 1st, its an old motor and ide rather have a single cam vtec that produces the same hp and is way more reliable

my friend has a zc in his crx and hes just got it running good after 2 years of it fuking up and the timing belt snaping and getting it rebuilt

That's a good point. I could get a CRX shell for next to nothing, and then do the swap. A shell in good coniditon is hard to come by, but they're out there, I suppose. Motor to motor, I also like the z6 better. The y8 has a really bad R/S ratio at 1.52. My only concern about the z6 is that the newest engine I could get would be a '95. That engine's almost 9 years old. You don't think that's too old?
